Barclays Credit card department,
Closing/Cancelling account California
I opened a Barclay Card Financing credit card in - - and charged $2200.00 on it. I paid $200.00 a month and paid it off by - - ( last payment on bank statement attached ). I tried to use the card over the - holiday - but the expiration date was - and it took me - tries to get the correct card which I received after the holiday. I have not used the card since - - as I am paying down my other credit cards. ( I had - in - and was just getting back to work in - ). I received a letter from Barclays - - stating they have closed my account for inactivity ( attached ) and they informed me in a letter after they closed the account. I contacted Barclay with my biggest concern which is that my credit report that I 've tried hard to improve will be adversely affected. They agreed that it will adversely affect my credit report but said they ca n't do anything about it. I waited over - minutes to speak with a supervisor who never came on the phone. I feel this is completely unjustified. After having a sizable balance, paying it off consistently and with a higher than required monthly payment, paying down my other cards so that I can be free of debt and a responsible consumer, I am being penalized by Barclay for no good reason expect pure greed and consumer malice. I feel that Barclays Bank is encouraging irresponsibility with the intention of greed and getting away with it.
