Amex Credit card department,
Please look into the billing practices of American Express credit cards. Like most people, I always pay all my bills at the end of the month. Amex has changed its billing cycle so that payments arriving early in the following month incur a late charge of $35.00 unrelated to the amount then unpaid. This can amount to an APR of hundreds or thousands of percent. I was a cardholder for almost - years. This problem did n't arise until the last few years. I strongly suspect that Amex deliberately altered its billing cycle to generate fee income from people like me who pay bills at the end of the month. I 've contacted them and asked that my billing cycle be changed, as other companies have done, but they were n't willing to do so. I 've paid off all charges against the card but refuse to pay these unwarranted and predatory late fees. Amex keeps dunning me for the late fees. I finally cancelled my card after a half century but the phone calls and bills keep coming. Undoubtedly there are many like me who regularly pay bills at the end of each month. On behalf of all of us, please look into this predatory practice, which is almost as usurious as payday lending.
