My - year old son has a checking account, savings account, and starter credit card with a $500.00 limit at US Bank. A couple of weeks ago, he mentioned that someone '' called him to open a new credit card and he felt pressured and did n't know how to say no '' so he opened it to get her off the phone. He was n't even sure what company it was for. The application was completed over the phone. A week or so later, the - statement arrived. The card was a - credit card from US bank with a relatively high $4500.00 credit limit for a young adult with good but very new credit history. I complained to our local US bank branch about this since I felt it was highly unethical and I asked them to pass the complaint to management. Another week passed and my son received
apologize for the predatory lending and hard core sales tactics experienced by my son which resulted in his taking out the card under pressure. US Bank needs to stop high pressure tactics on young adults. Second, the enquiry on my son 's credit report for this - card will count against his credit score, which he is taking great pains to build responsibly. US Bank needs to do more in these circumstances such as contacting the - major credit reporting agencies and having that enquiry removed from his credit history. I am so upset by this incident I am going to close all of my US bank accounts ASAP and am considering legal action.
