My mortgage servicing company ( Dovenmuehle, or DMI ) reported my mortgage as being paid for less than owed, despite the fact that it was a Veteran Affairs ( VA ) backed mortgage. As such, the VA paid the full amount to DMI, and DMI did not end up losing money on the property. The full loan amount was paid by the VA. Consequently, DMI should not file a negative note on my loan, stating that it was settled for less than the owed balance.
