Amex Credit card department,
I was in a debt repayment program with a set amount that I paid each month to the credit card company. The final payment was an over payment. When I saw that I had a two dollar credit, I wrote and asked that I receive a refund check for this amount. I sent - letters, as I thought that the first did not reach them. About three weeks later I did receive a check. I went to my bank and cashed the $2.00 check, so you can imagine my surprise when I received a copy of the check from my bank with a stop payment order. I was also accessed a $12.00 fee for the stop payment on my account. I have attempted to contact American Express. I even went on - to try and get this resolved. I just keep having to try and explain it over and over .... If the money owed had been on my side, they would not have hesitated to demand that I pay up immediately. When I tried to call them, I was switched to a different extension, and after about - - minutes the line went dead. I 'm tired of going through this and re explaining everything to American Express. I 'm tired of having to go back in the long line to get someone to talk to. I want a refund of the original credit along with reimbursement of the fee that my account was charged. I do n't think a $2.00 check will break the bank for AmEx, but I am aggravated that not only do I not get money owed me, but have been accesses an additional fee as well - for their mistake.
