The original creditor had my mailing address incorrect, but they did have a good contact telephone # ; I did n't realize I even owed this until I pulled my credit report. By then the debt had been sold to the collection agency. I never received a bill from the original creditor, or the collection agency. I am an - so I had my wife call the agency based on the info from my credit report. They attempted to use scare tactics to get her to pay it over the phone without ever seeing a statement of any kind. I have filed complaints against both the original creditor and the collection agency, with the - and still have yet to receive proof of this debt despite giving them my correct address. The - response was that they would remove this debt from my credit report once paid, but I never received anything from them. I have even emailed the collection agency 's legal department and they have not responded. I would 've been happy to pay this in the beginning if I had received notification that I owed it.
