Amex Credit card department,
On -/-/- I had bought jewelry ( diamond ring ) which they asked me to appraise before paying the full amount, since I did not agree on the price. The salesman named - told me to appraise and if I find the appraised price lower than the price charged, I can return it. Upon appraisal by a certified GIA appraiser I found that the actual value was $4400.00 and not $9500.00 that they had charged. Also a small diamond piece fell off the ring. At the time of purchase I had paid $5000.00 and the rest was to be settled or returned upon appraisal. I had called them and told them that the actual value was $4400.00 and that they had charged more than double. I called the American Express and informed them on -/-/- that they should place a block on - - and that any charges over $500.00 they should get our permission before allowing the charges. I called again on -/-/- and confirmed about the block. American Express informed me that they will not pay out any amount to - -. On -/-/- - tried to put through the charges $4500.00, it was denied by American Express. On -/-/- they forced charged it using another ID and it was paid out by American Express in error. American Express did not keep up with their word. I called and wrote to American Express numerous times but they did not accept their mistake. - jewelers told me that they will not accept the jewelry back and if at all I ship it back to them they will not accept the jewelry and we will not get the refund. Both parties did not do what they were supposed to and cheated me. Now American Express is trying to bring down our credit rating although it is their fault. I am a member of American Express since -/-/- and paid my bills on time. I would like you to look into this matter and investigate.
