Payday loan Cont'd attempts collect debt not owed Debt is not mine California

I was contacted by - - on -/-/- at - -. He claimed to be a process server engaged by LPS. He said that I needed to call them ASAP or he would serve me papers. - also called my parents at their home. He was calling from a blocked number, but gave me the number - - - - to contact LPS. I called the number and found out that LPS is Lakefront Processing Solutions. They said that I owed $450.00 on a payday loan taken out with - - - on or about -/-/- that I ned repaid. This sounded incorrect to me, but I gave them a credit card number that I knew would let me dispute the charge and paid the balance with the intention of doing more research when I got home that evening. When I looked into the payday loan, I verified that I did not take a payday loan out and that - - - was most likely not a real company. I called LPS back to discuss and was placed on hold and sent to various voicemail inboxes. Eventually, after several calls from me, they gave me the phone number for -


I received a call from - - stating that he had received my file again and would serve me papers in - minutes if I did not resolve the issue with LPS. I called LPS and spoke with - -. I asked for the bank account number that payments had been attempted from and was given the last - digits of -. This is not my bank account nor has it ever been my bank account. I also checked my bank account to make sure that there were no charges coming in or out from - - -. Nothing. No payday loans at all. I am not sure if this is a legitimate debt collector seeking payment for a fraudulent debt or a fraudulent debt collector. Either way I am sure that I do not owe this money and will dispute this debt. LPS has an old address for me, as well as my social security number and former employer 's information.
