My mother received a call asking for me. As she lives with me, she gave me the phone. The person I spoke to advised they were calling about a loan that had been turned over to them. As I had no knowledge of this, I asked them to send me information they in fact own the debt in question and I will handle it then. The agent said they had sent me - letters, to which I responded I had n't received anything from them. The person then said they were going to mark my account as 'refused to pay '. I advised them I never said I had refused to pay ; I just wanted verification.
