Amex Credit card department,
I have an American Express card connected to -. I had a platinum card for a year, with a $150.00 annual fee. When I got the bill with the coming year 's fee, I called and asked to have the card changed to a - card with a $95.00 fee. That was done and I was told that I would be charged $95.00 for the year and the $150.00 would be credited back to my account. I paid the $95.00. When I got the next bill, the annual fee charges were prorated so I was charged - month at the higher fee. I called to have that corrected and customer service person was extremely unhelpful and patronizing. I asked to speak to a supervisor and after considerable resistance I got someone else who was also patronizing. He kept repeating, - -, you must understand .... I understood extremely well, but he refused to acknowledge the issue or what I had been told in my previous call. I asked to speak to his supervisor and, again, after resistance I was told someone would call me within 48 hours. I have not received that call. I was going to call back but have no hope that I will be able to reach someone helpful. The amount of money is under $5.00 but I find the lack of accountability and the difficulty in getting acceptable customer service or any remedy extremely troubling.
