I opened a checking account with CitiBank on -/-/- in response to a promotion that I had received. The promotion said I could earn $400.00 by depositing $15000.00 and maintaining that balance for 30 days and keeping the account open for 90 days. I decided to close the account on -/-/- ( 99 days after opening it ). I called Citibank to close the account and confirmed that I had met the requirements to receive the promotion. When I received the close-out check, it did not include the $400.00 promotion. I contacted Citibank which told me that I had met the requirements and that the promotion had been set to be credited the day that I closed the account, but by closing the account, I could not receive the promotion. I escalated my call to a supervisor who forwarded my complaint to a department. This seems like a classic bait and switch. I funded the account with the required amount of money for the required amount of time and yet Citibank has not upheld its commitment.
