Citi Bank had a $400.00 checking promotion for keeping $15000.00 in an account for 30 days. Around -/-/16 I opened an account with them and sent $15000.00 for deposit. They sent an email that went to my junk mail requiring more information. Since I did not receive it, or any other contact from them, they moved to close the account with no activity. Around -/-/16, I called them to see the status of the account. I was told it was closed, but reassured by the Citi representative that if I opened a new account, I was still eligible for the bonus. I did so, and fulfilled the bonus requirements. I contacted Citi in late - to see where the bonus was, and they said they could not give me the bonus because I had an account opened within 60 days of the latest - ( the - that was automatically closed ), directly contradicting what I had heard from their own customer service representative very specifically telling me I was still eligible for the bonus. We went back and forth and they absolutely refused to honor what their employee had told me.
