While in college I joined the - in -/-/-. I spent six years in the - before enlisting in the - -/-/-. Prior to me enlisting in the -/-/- I applied for a Sears credit card in -. After during some research on SCRA and reading the blogs, I decided to apply for my Servicemembers Civil Relief Act benefits with Citibank through their Military Response Unit. I faxed my Department of Defense Manpower Data Center certification which shows my - start date and my LES. On -/-/-, I received a notification from Citibank stating I was ineligible to receive those benefits because my account was opened after my - service. I did not understand the denial letter so I call the Citibank Military Response Unit. After speaking with a customer service rep from Citibank Military Response Unit, he stated that Citibank used the date on my LES to make their determination for my eligibility for SCRA not date from my DDMDC. I tried to explain the customer service rep that date on my LES is the date I joined the - not the date I enlisted on -. The customer rep stated that I can resubmit my documents but he


I was notified on -/-/- I was denied again of my SCRA benefits. I believe I am entitled to SCRA credit card benefits from Citibank due to the fact I opened by account prior to my - service. According to 10 U.S.C. 101 ( d ) ( 1 ) the term ''active duty '' means full-time duty in the active military service of the United States . I started my full time service on -/-/-. Any assistance you can provide with helping me to receive my SCRA benefits from Citibank will be greatly appreciated. I have include my enlistment contracts to show the difference between - time and reserve time, my SCRA certificate and the notification from Citibank.
