Unable to get credit report/credit score Problem getting my free annual report Washington

As I understand it, everyone is entitled to receive a free credit report once a year from each of the - primary credit reporting agencies, -, -, and TransUnion. From the website -, I was informed to go to www.annualcreditreport.com as the only authorized site to get the free report, which I did. In following the steps on that website, I got free reports from both - and - with no problems or hassles. However, when I went to the TransUnion link, TransUnion offered a free credit score and a credit report for $1.00 provided I agreed to subscribe to their monthly credit monitoring service, on a 1 week free trial. If I wanted to cancel the subscription, I had one week to do so by contacting them and notifying them of my desire to cancel. That was the only option offered. Since I needed a report from each agency, I reluctantly agreed to the subscription with the intention of canceling as soon as I received the report. I neither needed nor wanted the credit monitoring subscription. After I agreed to their terms, I received the desired report ( which was very meager in comparison to the reports provided by

do the same thing for my spouse. Again, I had to agree to a subscription to TransUnion 's credit monitoring service to get the report. I did get the report, only this time I forgot to go back and cancel the subscription. About a week later, our bank account was charged $19.00 for the monitoring service, which overdrew our account. Since the account was now overdrawn, another charge, which otherwise would have cleared, overdrew the account further resulting in an additional overdraft fee. So now, I had the unwanted charge for the monitoring service plus - overdraft charges totaling an overdraft of $73.00. I contacted TransUnion and they finally agreed to cancel the - subscription and refund the $19.00. Our bank has agreed to reimburse the - overdraft fees, once TransUnion redeposits the $19.00. Failing to immediately cancel the monitoring service was admittedly my error. My complaint is : Why does someone have to go through all of this unnecessary hassle in order to get what is supposed to be a free credit report from TransUnion?!! Neither of the other - agencies put you through that ordeal, why does TransUnion. They should just provide the free report, as the other agencies do, without contingencies requiring service subscriptions. This seems to me, unethical, unnecessary, and perhaps illegal.
