I am having a checking account with Citi. Have these kind of issues : 1 ) They do n't provide online access by default. Moreover they never told you whether you need to do that or how to do that? Somehow i got the online access. 2 ) I wanted to close the account so I wrote a check to my another Bank account ( at - ). Prior to that I asked Citi via Secure message center that i am transferring all the balance via check ( external transfer ) and let me know if there is any issues ( or fees or penalties ) -they said go ahead and account will be closed. I wrote and submitted the check into my - account on -/-/- early morning ... and Citi account was suppose to be closed on -/-/- after check clearing ...


When i reached out to Citi and - both. Citi told me that I should have authorized the check ( what??? ) -did n't i told them when i wrote to them last week via secure message center about it? Moreover Citi send me the check book - no where it 's mentioned that writing check is blocked and i need to do something to unblock it. Moreover none of the banks in USA does anything like that. So if Citi is doing it differently ( in it 's unique way ) - they should educate the customer before head rather than this sorry situation. I chatted with Citi and also called their customer service. they are not willing to do anything it seems ... mere apologies but nothing more than that. I wasted my time and money and energy for no fault of mine but these weird ( and unknown to customer ) rules of Citi. In other words - Citi is making it too difficult when customer is trying to take his/her money out of the bank account. Needless to mention - the account had sufficient money to honor the check. If there is anything required by Citi ( like it is genuine check and customer only had written it ) - they should have called me or informed me at least ( they had my entire contact details as they collected it during the account opening process ). Moreover i wrote the check to myself ( just from Citi to - ) - so there is not even a single reasonable person who will believe me on this nuisance caused by Citi.
