Citibank Credit card department,
Credit determination Wisconsin
On -/-/2016 I applied for a CitiBank credit card. On -/-/2106 I received a notice CitiBank was unable to complete my application because I have a security freeze on my credit history. When I had my credit freeze applied, part of the agreement was organizations I currently have a credit relationship with would not be affected. I currently have a credit card with CitiBank, so I have an existing credit relationship with them. Upon calling CitiBank, I was told they could not use old credit data to approve a new account. They can get new credit data anytime they want because of my existing credit card account. Rescinding the credit freeze involves considerable time and energy that I do not have. In addition, I would be required to pay to have the security freeze both turned off, and then back on again. According to the original agreement I have, this should n't be necessary. I called -, the agency referred to by Citibank. None of the menu options apply to what I need, and as I 'm sure you 're aware, it is not possible to talk to a person at any of the credit reporting agencies to correct the problem. Further, the CitiBank representative I talked to would not allow me to escalate the complaint there. I ask that CFPB contact the affected organizations and require they abide by the Security Freeze agreement they entered into with me.
