Delinquent account New Jersey

I had an account with Walmart. The account was sold to - and then again to - -. I have paid this account in full to - - and Walmart will not remove/update this information with the credit bureaus. They are telling me that - - has to report it when in fact they ca n't report a payment that they never reported delinquent. The person reporting the delinquency has to report the payment.
