Amex Credit Card Complaint

Other

Amex Credit card department,

Texas

American Express declined my new application due to prior card cancellation of over 16 years ago. I went thru a personal bankruptcy in 2000 in which my Gold AmEx card was included. I was never late on the card prior to that event for 18 years. American Express will not look at current financial situation in order to approve a new account. I believe they are violating the Federal Equal Credit Opportunity Act by using the cancelled account excuse from 16 years ago.
