Citibank Credit Card Complaint

Balance transfer

Citibank Credit card department,

Balance transfer Texas

I have an - AAdvantage Citicard because I want to earn miles on my purchases. I recently took advantage of a balance transfer offer to remodel our kitchen and we made a transfer of $15000.00 on -/-/-. The 0 % interest balance is good through -/-/2017. Since then I made my monthly payments to cover my purchases and pay part of the balance transfer. I discovered I was being charged interest and the amount listed on the statements for the balance transfer was much lower than expected. I called Citi customer service to find out what was happening. They said the balance transfer offer stated that any payments made would be posted against the lower interest rate first. So in other words, to avoid any interest I would have to now completely pay off the balance transfer before they apply payments against my purchases at the higher rate! This is completely backwards! I realize this is what I blindly signed up for now, but this is completely anti-consumer. No one would expect it to work this way and I find this quite deceiving and quite frankly stupid on Citi 's part ( except they benefit by charging interest ). The

card to avoid paying any more interest. This has now cost me $470.00 for the first transfer fee, $70.00 interest in - and $97.00 in -. It 's also costing me another $720.00 to transfer my complete balance out of Citicard. My wife and I both have the AAdvantage cards and we used them as our primary cards, putting thousands on them each month and paying the balances each month. We WANT to use the cards for purchases, including utility bills, phone, etc. as we WANT to earn miles with -. Why would a credit card company NOT want me to use their cards for purchases? If this does n't get resolved, then Citicard will have lost - consumers for life and we both lose, me and Citi. For now, we have ceased using our cards unless we can come to a resolution.
