The source of this debt is a visit to the - hospital. My wife was - of 5 months at the time. She -. All the literature states that if that happens, one should get checked asap. Therefore we went to the closest -. Our - plan has a coverage for - visits with $100.00 copay. We were admitted through the - and taken to - ( - - - ) on a wheelchair without asking anything. Her insurance information was taken when admitted. 4 months later the hospital sent us a letter saying they were experiencing lack of cooperation from the insurance company. The insurance company has gone as far as stating that the - should have contacted them before sending us to - - -. The hospital ( logically ) argues in a situation of - where there is a - there is no time to waste on bureaucracies.


The insurance on their end argue that if the invoice does not specify that it is an emergency room situation with its corresponding code, it is not covered as such. We 've discussed with the hospital and they said the system does n't have that code input - it is either - & - or emergency room, but it can not be emergency - - -, and the best they can do is put it as a note in the invoice. We 've gone as far as coordinating several calls between - payments department and the - financial departments to clarify the situation, and have reached a stalemate. - claims they can not pay without the - code, and - say they can not do it on the system. I even have recordings of these calls where hospital agents admit it 's not our fault but they can not do anything about it. I 'm afraid there is nothing more I can do, but it is not my responsibility to pay the bill for something that is clearly a systems issue between the insurance company and the -.
