Navient is the private loan servicer. I am the cosigner for my son. Originally these ( - loans ) were - - loans. I have been paying on the loans since -. Loan - was disbursed in the amount of $21000.00. To date I have paid over $17000.00 on this loan. The outstanding balance is $17000.00. - was disbursed in the amount of $31000.00. To date I have paid almost $20000.00 on this loan. The outstanding balance is $24000.00. I submit that the fees and interest on these loans are predatory and unethical. Consequently, I have retained counsel to help me navigate a course of action. Repeatedly Navient has refused to help me over the years with a reasonable payment plan and reduction of interest and fees. Finally in - of - I discontinued my payments to Navient after receiving a bill for - that indicated that my most recent payment of $130.00 only lowered the balance by $46.00. Although I have retained counsel, CFPB needs to be aware of the predatory practices of Navient. I have retained counsel for 6 months and to date, although we have offered a reasonable amount for a monthly payment, Navient has refused to cooperate.
