I was recently informed by my credit card company that a merchant I visited had a security breach and as a result, the credit card company would be issuing a new credit card for me to protect my account. However, when I requested the name of the merchant with the security breach, I was informed that information was private and could not be disclosed to me. As a consumer, I find it shocking that I am not allowed to know which merchant had a security breach and potentially exposed me to further security concerns though my credit card company is allowed to know.
