Citibank Credit Card Complaint

Advertising and marketing

Citibank Credit card department,

Advertising and marketing Texas

I applied for a Citibank credit card with a - - - Aadvantage points sign on bonus if I spent $3000.00 in 3 months. I spent over $3000.00 in 3 months and did not receive my bonus. I complained and they said there is no bonus if you have had a card in the past 18 months. 15 months had passed at the time. They said I would NEVER get a sign on bonus if I kept my card. I saved a copy of the application terms and conditions ( I tried to attach it here but it would not let me ) and there is nothing about 18 months. It does say this offer is valid only for new account. This was a new account. Furthermore, when I complained they said I am being penalized 24 months from the current date to reapply and get a sign on bonus. They are penalizing customers just for getting one of their products? This is ridiculous. The - sign on bonus is in LARGE letters. Maybe somewhere in tiny print is the 18 months limit but I can not find it. When they sent me my card they should have CLEARLY notified me that I was not eligible for the sign on bonus. Instead, they led me on so I would spend the $3000.00 and get nothing. This is a DECEPTIVE business practice and the CFPB should investigate. I sent a letter to - -, President of Citibank and I am writing this complaint to the CPPB because of the nonsense response I received from a - - at Citibank who ignored the fact that I received no sign on bonus that they advertised in LARGE letters, that I would never receive a sign on bonus if I kept my card, and was being penalized for 24 months if I cancelled the card. I was so annoyed I cancelled my card and am writing this complaint. There is certainly nothing in the terms about a penalty. I hope to see - - before Congress like - - of - -.
