Credit monitoring or identity protection Problem with fraud alerts New York
Normally I have a security freeze placed on my credit report through Trans Union. On - -, I made an online application to lift the credit freeze on that day through - - because I had applied for a new credit card. This cost me $5.00. The credit card called me the next day saying that they could not process the application because my credit report was still frozen. That evening I called Trans Union and they assured me that the freeze has been lifted on the date I requested. I explained that the credit card company informed me of the contrary. In addition, Trans Union also informed me that I had completely removed the freeze on the card, and in order to replace the freeze, I would have to pay another $5.00 fee. I assured them that this was not true, I had not permanently lifted the freeze and that I had only requested the freeze be lifted long enough for the credit card company to process my application. In the meantime, on - -, the credit card company once again called me saying they could not process my application because there was still a freeze on my credit report. So in the end, I could not have my credit card application processed AND I am being forced to pay an extra $5.00 to put a freeze back onto my credit report, freeze that I never permanently lifted.
