Amex Credit Card Complaint

Advertising and marketing

Amex Credit card department,

Advertising and marketing New Jersey

I was on - attemting to make a purchase of a pair of shoes when I noticed that there was a link from AME- on - stating that if I qualified and purchased the shoes from AME- that I would receive a - credit towards the purchase. After I applied for the AME- - and was qualified I was brought back to - to complete my purchase. The transaction went through. The next day I was notified that the transaction was declined by - as Amex would not allow the the transaction to go through. I then called - and spoke with - who verified my name address and the last - digits of the instant card number I received. she then assured me that my transaction would go through. The next day I was sent an email from - stating that the transaction has been declined by Amex and that I should call them. I called AME- and asked why I was declined and they said because the - transaction does not meet with their terms and conditions on

Why would AME- and - advertise on their website an incentive to get the AME- when they wont even honor a transaction from them? Why was I brought back to - after I qualified for an instant account to complete my purchase if it was ineligible? I would not have applied for a card that would do nothing for me with reference to the transaction. This is a clear - violation. When speaking with AME- I had referenced - several times and all they could do was apologize. This is wrong and consumers should not sign up for this card if AME- can not honor the transaction on the Website it was advertized on.
