Non-federal student loan Can't repay my loan Can't decrease my monthly payments Maine

I was told my Sallie Mae that I had to make account past due and wait for collections to contact me before I could try and change my rate. The only other option I was given was forbearance, which only makes the problem worse. I ca n't pay this loan and have enough money to start my life.
