Citibank Credit Card Complaint

Payoff process

Citibank Credit card department,

Payoff process Minnesota

I have been working with a financial counseling company on a debt management plan to pay off old credit card debts since 2013. I have been making payments faithfully for the past - years and have not missed - payment. I was getting excited because I thought I was getting close to paying the balance off. - only - or - more payments However, in the last month I noticed that my - statement was updated with a new balance and showed that I still owe over $800.00. I followed up with the financial counseling company to see why this changed. They said they only recently got an update from Citi reflecting the new balance, but the balance was quite a bit larger. This concerned me so I checked my records, including my credit report. The highest balance on the card that was reported was $5700.00. I have paid $5400.00 to this debt to date. This should leave me with a balance of $310.00. Citi is quoting the balance at $810.00. I asked the financial management company to contact Citi, which they did, but they could not get a sufficient answer as to the discrepancy and suggested to them that I call. I just got off the phone with a Citi recovery representative, who could NOT tell me where the discrepancy took place or why, and that their system showed $810.00 as the remaining balance so that must be it. He did verify the beginning balance at $5700.00. He was providing me with information on only - year 's worth of reports ( last year ), and told me he would have to request permission to get my reports from when the payment plan started, and I would have to call back in a week. This is unbelievably frustrating that no one can pinpoint where or why the balances are different. In addition, I have not been receiving ANY statements from Citibank, or the company that they apparently sold my debt to.
