I signed up for my free credit report pursuant to Transunion 's services and the -day free trial ( after which I 'd be charged $16.00 + tax for a monthly " subscription '' ). Upon the end of the 7 days, I tried to cancel but found no way to do so online, nor did I find any information as to a phone number to call to cancel, and I also could not find further instructions when I searched " cancel '' in the website 's search bar. I believe Transunion is purposely making it difficult and unreasonably burdensome for consumers to cancel their memberships so that they can charge them $16.00 per month for the subscription. It seems very likely that Transunion is taking advantage of the busy nature of people 's lives and the little time they may have to fully mete out this issue. There is certainly a consumer protection issue when a company has intentionally tried to conceal a person 's ability to cancel a recurring charge that he or she otherwise has the complete right to do.
