On -/-/-, I filed a CFPB complaint # - concerning - ( - ) Chase credit card accounts. After going through Chase suggested " money counseling '' and provided the information they requested, the attached - - response resulted. ( copy attached ) Since that time, Chase has kept the account active by monthly reports to - ( - ) credit reporting bureaus '. Accounts ending in - and - were officially closed as a " Charge Off, : - account in -/-/- and the other -/-/-. Chase eluded to the fact if the consumer agreed to follow Chase procedures, there would be no negative credit reporting. For example, using the term " Absorb. '' By reporting this negativity, Chase also failed to provide the consumer amble notice of any negative reporting to credit agencies. FCRA, ( 7 ) Negative Information : ( A ) Notice to Consumer Required ( i ) In general. If any financial institution that extends credit and regularly and in the ordinary course of business furnishes information to a consumer reporting agency described in section 603 ( p ) furnishes negative information to such an agency regarding credit extended to a customer, the financial institution shall provide a notice of such furnishing of negative information, in writing, to the customer. ( Quoted from the - - FCRA edition ) In fact, the entire process requested by Chase was to avoid negative credit reporting. It must also be noted that the -, mentioned in - - ' letter, has never received. Upon discovery of Chase recent actions, a letter dated - -, - was sent to Chase Card Services Executive Offices which included a copy of their - -, - letter. Within the - -, -, was a request to correct the information Chase provided the credit reporting agencies. To this date, Chase has not replied.
