On an ongoing basis, certain foreign merchants are charging me a 4.99 % markup on a currency exchange service that I am specifically requesting NOT be used. On the receipt, it says that I was offered a choice, but I when I ask the cashier " please do no use the currency conversion service, '' the merchants reply that their credit card machines do not offer the choice, that the markup is required. - and - seem to be in on this scam ( see attached receipts ). I do n't believe that Chase bank is at fault, I think that - and - are scamming both Chase and the consumers.
