This is pertaining to a loan I co-signed for a friend because she needed help getting a loan for school. I was under the impression that I can get out of being a co-signer after two years if my friend was able to show proof that she is able to take care of the loan herself. Navient ( which is part of - ) made that promise to us and yet here we are 8 years later and they have refused my friend 's request twice to take me off as a co-signer. She has shown for the past 8 years that she can pay her loans on time ( she has never missed a payment ), and her and her significant other make more than enough money to be able to continue to pay for her school loan without my assistance as a co-signer, so basically Navient- is essentially taking me hostage, when they themselves said I could be taken off the loan after two years of showing that she is responsible enough to make payments consistently, which she clearly has not missed at all. Navient/- should n't be making false claims like this and giving people like me a false sense of hope.
