I made purchases through - promotions, - eighteen-month financing and a twelve-month financing. My payments are timely, never late and always more than the minimum due. - -, - I made an online payment of $150.00. I noticed my balance appeared $800.00. more than it should be. I then noticed I was charged $790.00 in interest on the eighteen-month financing promo. I did n't realize the 18-mth promo ended and the deferred interest $790.00 was applied. I immediately contacted Best Buy to resolve the matter without success. I was told the promo balance of $650.00 needed to be paid to avoid the interest. I offered to pay an additional $500.00. immediately to waive the interest and was told an emphatic " no ''. I made several calls to Best Buy and got different answers but all said " no ''. I also called BBuy Dept. of Citibank and spoke to a woman who said I had 20 days to pay the promo balance which would have been - -, -. A matter of 4 days cost me an additional $790.00. I also spoke to another BBuy rep and was told someone would call me back and no one did. As


period must be clear and conspicuous. Looking at my BBuy statement the things that stand out to me are the bold banners and large print. The disclosure re time frame is in the lower third of the statement in very small print. The time frame notice on the statement does not appear to meet the standard set by the Credit Card Act 2009 or the TILA, i.e. " readily noticeable to the consumer ''. Something as relevant as the disclosure should be prominently displayed with a reasonable font size. Apparently, this has happened to many consumers. I have read multiple posts where consumers have been the victim of this practice for even larger amounts of interest, all without success in having the interest removed. I would have at least expected a friendly compromise and/or some flexibility in the interest charged. It is not like I called months later and it is not like I did not offer to immediately satisfy the $650.00 promo balance. What is certain is that Citibank Best Buy credit card practices are predatory and in direct violation of the Credit Card Act 2009 and the TILA, Truth In Lending Act. In light of that, I would like the deferred interested waived and removed from my account immediately.
