Incorrect information on credit report Account status Texas

There is a - - item on my Transunion and - credit reports listed as " charged off as bad debt '' and showing a balance of $280.00 and past due of $100.00. This account went into default in 2000, date of last payment is - -, 2000. There has not been any activity on this account since 2000 which far exceeds the 7 year reporting period. I have disputed this account with both credit reporting agencies and both come back with no explanation except that it a valid account.
