I have a loan that was formerly serviced by - -, and is now being serviced by Navient. - - allowed me to access my loan details, which included principal balance, accrued interest, interest rate and type, and monthly payment amount. This monthly payment amount was periodically reduced to reflect my excess loan payments ( I assume ), so that information helped me to adjust my payments when I wanted. Navient, however, has changed their website and decided that my monthly payment due is n't information that 's important for me to have. Additionally, I used to be able to view statements online. Navient has decided that monthly statements are superfluous, and are also not needed by borrowers. So I 'm basically paying for a loan and tracking the balance myself, while Navient withholds information and will probably show a balance that 's higher than what I have in my records. Did I mention that the only information that is currently available about my loan is the principal balance, interest accrued, and past payments? I do n't know why private student loans are even still legal in this country, but this is - ridiculous. If you guys at the CFPB have any power, the least you could do is stop allowing these predators to withhold information from us and prohibit interest rate increases on loans. I 've made consistent and SUBSTANTIAL payments on all of my loans for the past 5 years, and I should n't have to deal with this -.
