I saw a promotion that Discover Card had announced where they were offering 10 % cashback on all purchases made in-store with - Pay up to $10000.00 and there were no exclusions noted. I chose to open a Discover credit card at the time due to this great deal being advertised. I confirmed with others that the 10 % cashback did not exclude gift cards. Fast forward three months, I 've started to receive emails from Discover stating that gift card purchases are excluded from the promotion. It turns out, that two days after the promotion went live, Discover decided to change the terms of the promotion to exclude gift cards. Discover did not inform card holders of this change in their terms. It 's absolutely unacceptable for a company to bait and switch consumers like this without any notice. I have contacted Discover via chat, who told me to email the email that contacted me about gift cards being excluded and I have not received a response.
