I called Bloomingdales to follow up on an application to upgrade my Bloomingdales Store Card to the Bloomingdales American Express. I had not heard from them in about a month since working with a manager and some online department for an application that seemed to freeze in their system. I was transferred to credit and she said she could reconsider the application and placed me on hold ... shortly later she came back and said it was declined and she could not do anything. I asked what credit report they had used last month and she said no, I pulled a credit report today! I said, WHAT? You NEVER mentioned pulling credit today and I did not agree for credit to be pulled today, you all have been working on this application for over a month and that is not my fault. So I asked her to recode the pull a Soft pull or remove the hard pull because she did not have my permission to pull a new credit report. She stated matter of fact and defying " That 's not going to happen! " I 'm appauled that these banks just do what they want and damage consumers credit reports and then give us higher rates and deny loans because of all the actions they take with pulling credit all the time and such ... Macy's/Bloomingdales is # 1 Preditor for doing this, all you have to do is head over to any one of the credit boards like - and you can see post after post of consumers ending up with hard credit pulls from Macy 's and Bloomingdales with NO communication or permission that it was going to happen. They need to be stopped.
