Cont'd attempts collect debt not owed Debt resulted from identity theft Minnesota

My parents have been receiving phone calls on an almost daily basis from -, - - -. My mom was given a reference number and a number so that I could contact them. When I called it was brought to my attention that Paypal had requested they start a collection process from me. I contacted Paypal only to find out that there were multiple accounts opened under my name, which have since been closed. Never have I opened or used a Paypal account. They were made aware of this, but somewhere between Paypal and - the communication was lost.
