North Shore LIJ Medical Center ( NSLIJ '' ) has referred me to a collection agency for amounts that they never invoiced me. On -/-/-, my daughter had a procedure done at NSLIJ. The billing was processed through our insurance, and we verified our personal information and our insurance information on the day of the procedure. On -/-/-, I received a call asking me to call NSLIJ. I spoke to a representative of NSLIJ on -/-/- and was notified that I had not paid the amount I was responsible for, after insurance payments, for my daughter 's procedure on -/-/-. I informed the representative that no invoice was ever sent to me. I also confirmed my billing address. It should be noted that the NSLIJ representative did not inform me that there was any issue with my billing address. In the second week of -, I received the letter from NSLIJ dated -/-/- claiming that


On -/-/-, I called NSLIJ to inquire about the -/-/- letter. The NSLIJ representative informed me that NSLIJ had been sending notices to an address that I have not lived since -/-/-. The NSLIJ representative had no explanation for why they were sending invoices to the wrong address ( and one that I had not lived in for 10 years ) since I verified my address on multiple occasions including ( i ) on the date of my daughter 's procedure ; and ( - ) on my phone call with the NSLIJ representative on -/-/-. The NSLIJ representative said they would send an invoice in the mail now. Shortly thereafter, I received - invoices dated -/-/- from NSLIJ - - for $300.00 and - for $230.00. I paid both invoices in full on -/-/- by phone. On -/-/-, I received a letter from a collection agency - - & - - dated -/-/- for $39.00. It is outrageous that NSLIJ has referred me to a collection agency for an amount that they never billed me. I repeatedly informed them that they never sent me invoices and requested that they send me invoices so that I could pay any amounts owed off of the invoices. They admitted that they were sending bills to the wrong location. They repeatedly assured me they would send invoices to me. They sent me - invoices which I paid in full. Now they have referred me to a collection agency for this amount which they never sent me a bill for. I take great care to maintain an excellent credit rating. I do not want my credit rating to be adversely affected by NSLIJ 's mistakes and improper referral of me to a credit agency.
