I was billed by the local electric authority ( - ) for the balance of a bill I did not know that I owed ( I had moved away from the apartment in question several months prior ). I received a letter from - that was forwarded to my new address and I paid the bill, directly to -, on the final day that it was due ( -/-/15 ). About a week later I received a letter, issued -/-/15, from PennCredit attempting to collect the debt on behalf of -. I called PennCredit at their listed number on - -. I explained that the bill had been paid, and the person answering the phone assured me that PennCredit would verify this with - and that I would need to take no further action. She told me that PennCredit would be unable to verify that the matter was settled in writing. Today, - -, I was informed by my stepmother that Penn Credit repeatedly called my father and stepmother 's house, seeking to contact me. I have not lived in the same household as my father for 17 years. I called Penn Credit to ask why they were continuing to follow up, and the person answering the phone was only able to tell me that she had a record that the debt was paid, as well as a record that the phone call had been made, and did not know why my record was still being called, as there was no outstanding debt. She was unable to provide any kind of additional confirmation that I should not longer be contacted ( really, I should not ever have been contacted in the first place ) and that this would not happen again.
