Discover Credit Card Complaint

Delinquent account

Discover Credit card department,

Delinquent account North Carolina

I am hoping you can help me. I had a credit card with Discover years ago. Due to a divorce and relocation and severe loss of marital income I had to stop making payments in -. I have recently received a letter from the IRS siting funds I owe from a - cancellation of debt from - - - ( Discover Card ). I was only contacted by Discover a few times in regards to debt collection and that was within a year of my last payment. In NC there is a - year statute of limitations on credit card debt and even the IRS sites an expiration of a non payment testing period as - months. I am trying to dispute this with the IRS but getting information from Discover has proved to be difficult. I believe the - form that Discover sent me should be for - or -, not -. The debt the IRS is trying to hold me responsible for is too old and the credit card company should be held responsible and made to provide accurate information to the IRS.
