Taking/threatening an illegal action Threatened arrest/jail if do not pay California
An agency named - attempted to contact me but called my husband. This has happened before and they contacted my sister in law in a different state. The phone # is -. Tis - time I did not let them go on as per information on line and my attorney this is a scam. The - woman when I just called back was named - -. They claimed I have an unpaid Payday Loan which I never had. Today they wanted me to pay them to clear up information about a payday loan. The first time they threatened me with legal action ( the Sheriff Dept. and court would charge me ) if I did not pay them now. They were threatening and very unprofessional and made no sense so I have always hung up. The scary part is they have my SS # and banking information. This, to me, is a clear case of identity theft. How should I proceed? -
