I contacted credit agency to verify debt seeking proof of debt from original company to the creditor company. The company refused to fax or email verification of debt and would only mail the verification. I offered to make payment immediately upon receipt of verification. Company threatened that debt would incur interest during their mailing time and further increase my debt. This is essentially a punishment for seeking verification of a debt before paying the creditor. Additionally, I never received notice of the debt from the original company, so verification of the debt was needed.
