Western Union Bank Account Or Service Complaint

Other bank product/service Making/receiving payments, sending money

Western Union Bank account or service department,

Other bank product/service Making/receiving payments, sending money Texas

I received a money order from a tenant and misplaced it for over one year, but it was not three years old. It was purchased through Western Union Financial Services. Western Union claims that it is no longer any good and needs to be reissued for a large fee. I understand that a money order in the state of Texas is not abandoned unless it three years old from the date of purchase under the Texas Property Code, Chapter 72 Sub chapter B page 4. It appears that Money order companies makes the own rules and regulation that does not coincide with state and federal laws to rip off consumers because of misfortune of an accident. I called Western Union and they want a large fee to replace it. A fee had already been paid to purchase it so why would they not honor their check. Western Union States on the back of their check, Not good after - year from date of purchase. There will be a non refundable service charge will be deducted from the face value of the check to be assessed where not prohibited by law. I called - - who the check was drawn on. They could not help. I called the Federal Trade Commission and they directed this matter to this office.
