Amex Credit Card Complaint

Customer service / Customer relations Pennsylvania

I called American Express to get a lower APR. I asked if I could open a new card with 0 % APR and transfer my balance. The representative informed me that they do not do balance transfers between AME- cards, but that I could upgrade '' my card to - with 0 % APR. I agreed. A few days later, I received a new AME- card in the mail with a different number than my existing card. I waited a few weeks before activating the card and, upon activation, I discovered that I now had - AME- cards, my old - with a small balance ( why I initially wanted 0 % APR ), and the new - with no balance. So, my account was not upgraded, I was simply issued a - card. This adversely affected my credit score due to the addition of a new credit account as well as the hard inquiry they made into my credit score. Not to mention the fact that I was lied to ( on a recorded line ) by an American Express representative. I immediately contacted customer service on -/-/-/2015 and was told they would open an investigation and I would hear back in 5-7 days. I never heard anything. I called again on -/-/-/-/2015 only to find that no investigation or complaint was ever opened the - time. The representative gave me his ID number, -, and told me I would hear back from them in 3-5 days. I never did. I called again today, -/-/-/-/ and spoke to - in North Carolina. She informed me that a complaint was opened, but not resolution had been reached and to call back in 30 days. - strikes and they 're out. I have had no satisfaction from dealing directly with AME- and therefore am reaching out to CFPB for assistance.
