On Friday - -, 2015 my husband and I opened a - at Wells Fargo Bank located at - Idaho - -, NV -. 2 days later, On Monday - -, I went online to do some bill pay activities. I then saw the bank had deducted $0.00 from my savings account with the notation of Federal Withholding ''. I contacted the bank, since I have never encountered this with any savings account I have been associated with, and questioned this withdrawal. I was told this was because - of the SS # 's was apparently entered incorrectly and I would now need to bring proof of both of our SS # 's. Meaning, I needed to bring our actual cards to the bank, which I did. Upon arrival at the bank and, after the banker looked at the account on their computer it was determined the SS # 's were indeed correct and they did


me this was necessary because there was some question about the validity of - or the other of our SS # 's. - suggested - of you must have changed your number at some time ''!!! When I objected to the absurdity of that statement she suggested perhaps then, someone else 's account had our number put in accidently so the number was in use in their system somewhere else!!!! After I refused to sign any forms, because it made NO SENSE and, after I insisted they further investigate this issue, a phone call was made to someone at the bank in - - ''. I was then told the problem, after all, was just that a date had been left off '' when husband signed forms and all we needed to do was send a corrected copy of the form. A copy of the original form was made, a date added and, the form ( I am told ) was sent off. I was assured all was taken care of, they would keep an eye on the transaction and, the $0.00 would be credited back into our savings account. This was to occur within - days. I suggested the bank might have just contacted us to have us come down and fix this, before any funds were removed from our accounts without explanation. I was informed by the banker, -, they have policies '' and the customer is never contacted ''.!!!????!!! On the following -, I checked again, nothing had changed on our account so, I again went to the bank. This time after more phone calls by the banker, it was determined they needed to complete some banking forms in order for the corrections to occur and since it is after - central time '' the correction would not occur until sometime the next day. I again waited and, after - days, - had changed. The bank never contacted me. On - -, I called the bank manager and was told they had now initiated an inquiry '' because they did not know '' why it was not being corrected. The manager could not tell me how long the inquiry process would take and could only tell me she had received calls from at least - other bankers today '' about the problem. My husband and I went to the bank the following day on - - and closed - accounts, exactly - weeks after they were opened. The $0.00 was never returned to our account. I can only wait until the end of the year now to discover if I receive credit for that withholding. Though this is not a large sum of money, the practices of this bank seem extremely suspect and it should not be allowed to operate in such a manner. Additionally I have, to date, never received a bank statement and can no longer access o line any records pertaining to this complaint though I was assured, by the manager, when this account was closed that I would continue to be able to see '' the account on line. : /
