JPMorgan Chase Credit Card Complaint

APR or interest rate

JPMorgan Chase Credit card department,

APR or interest rate South Carolina

I have a Chase credit card on which I am carrying a balance at a 3.99 % promotional rate for life. I made several purchases before - on the Chase card at a rate of 14.25 % for new purchases. So as not to incur interest on those new purchases I made a payment equal to the Minimum Payment due plus an amount to equal the new purchases I had made, with a little extra for any interest that accrued since the date of my purchases. I did this for - pay cycles to make sure there was not a balance under New Purchases at 14.25 %. It is my understanding that all monies paid over the minimum due will be posted to any purchases at a higher rate. It was not. Chase says even though I had made the purchases and those purchases were being charged 14.25 % from the date of purchase the full amount of my excess payment was not applied to the higher interest rate because it was not part of the previous Billing Cycle. -, the account - for Chase, admitted that the new purchases were on my account, when I made my excess payment, and that I had been paying the higher interest rate on those from the date of purchase, but - said that the full excess payment was not applied to the higher interest purchases because the charges were not included in my previous billing cycle. - said it was the law ''. I am currently still paying 14.25 % on a balance that should not be there. I followed the rules as they were explained to me by a Chase representative and got screwed. I am contacting my Congressmen in hopes that this will stop once and for all. Had I waited for the new purchases to hit the new billing cycle I would have paid even more interest. Is this the way the new financial rules are suppose to work? More interest for the banks?
