My wife and I both checked our credit reports, as we periodically do. There are several accounts on each of our reports, listing Portfolio Recovery for - - debts. We have never received anything, in writing, from - - or Portfolio Recovery. We have, however, received threatening voice mails from Portfolio Recovery, which we know is part of a possible scam. With all of the scams out there, we will not pay anything over the phone ; and certainly, nothing that is n't owed. We each did have - - accounts, years ago, which were charged off in bankruptcy. We have never received anything in writing, regarding anything owed to this Collection Agency. We only have discovered these on our credit reports. Proper debt collection practices and laws have not been followed. I know this agency purchases debt from creditors, but debts charged off in bankruptcy? VERY suspicious.
