Citibank Credit card department,
Today, I applied over the phone for a balance transfer to the Citibank - -. While doing so, a few things happened : 1 ) when asking for my phone number, they asked if I authorized them to contact me via phone in various ways, but never told me that I can op-out of being contacted, which they should tell customers, 2 ) after my application was processed, I told them I wanted the credit report that they pulled sent to me. I was transferred to roughly - departments within the Bank, not - employee knew that the FCRA gives consumers the right to get a copy of their credit report whenever someone pulls it, nor did they have the ability to simply check that I wanted a copy sent to me. I even spoke with a supervisor, who was also not aware of this requirement. Actually none of them even knew of the FCRA. I spoke with Citi customer service, their credit card application department, and the status department, multiple times. The fact that Citibank has no protocols for informing and ensuring that individuals can receive a copy of their credit report after completing an application for a Citi product is, from my understanding, a clear violation of FCRA.
