The Huntington National Bank Consumer Loan managing the loan or lease May 13, 2016 - I have an auto loan through Huntington Nat'l Bank. The loan was opened in - 2014. I carry full coverage insurance ( through private company ) on my vehicle, which Huntington is listed as lien holder, but learned today that Huntington is ALSO charging me $40.00 per month for auto insurance. I have never missed a payment, been late nor had insurance lapse at anytime. I was informed by a Huntington representative, that that is just something they do to protect their interest. At the maturity of my loan the Bank said that several of the payments they received were outside the grace period. After much discussion of the calculation of their claim I agreed to pay the $170.00 in late fees ''. The Bank then declared that I did not pay the $170.00 timely and reported the matter to the Credit Bureau as a charge -off. The reimbursement process was that the dealership provide paperwork to the underwriter, the underwriter would issue a check for the unused portion of the policy to the lending institution, the lending institution would then forward that pro-rated refund to me.
