Choice Recovery, Inc. Debt collection department,
Medical Cont'd attempts collect debt not owed Debt was paid Ohio
I had a medical bill with a company named - - in - of -. The bill was not paid in a timely manner so it was sent to a collection agency called Choice Recovery in - of -. Within 30 days after Choice Recovery received the bill it was reported to my credit report on - -, -. I contacted - in - of - and asked if I could pay the bill off. The employee informed me that it was at a collection agency and that I had to contact them. I told her that my bill was with - and not the collection agency. She refused to take a payment over the phone. I asked if I sent a money order in to - to pay the bill off what would she do? She informed me that she would refuse the payment and send me the money order back. I waited several months before mailing a money order to - to pay this debt off and they cashed it. I contacted the collection agency in - and told them what I had done.
Initially Choice Recovery reported a balance of $130.00 and $9.00 to my credit report. Now the collection agency is reporting a $9.00 and $6.00 remaining balance when there was a money order sent to - for $130.00 because that is what was on the bill. How can a collection agency report to my credit when they were not the ones that was paid? I have attached a copy of the bill, the money order and the information from the bank showing that - was the one who cashed the money order. If you have any questions please contact me by mail at - - -, - - -, -, Ohio - or by phone - or by email at --. Thanks in advance for helping with this situation. - -
